WordCamp Europe 2017 in Paris
One month from today, the entire YIKES team will be landing in Paris a few days before WordCamp Europe (en français), a first for us all. My love for Paris, French, and WordPress intersecting has inspired me to create an ongoing blog series leading up to #WCEU. I will keep it brief although there is much to say on all three topics.
- WordCamp EU Highlight of the Day: What is WordCamp Europe?
- Paris Idea of the Day: Île de la Cité
- Simple French of the Day: Bonjour, Au Revoir, Merci
1. What is WordCamp Europe?
WordCamp Europe is a huge global WordPress conference. WordCamps are community organized events for anyone involved in WordPress. Whether you are a casual user, designer, developer, blogger, project manager, or the child of parents who run a WordPress agency, you will find something to learn, share, think about from attending a WordCamp. Introverts and extroverts alike, Bourbon loving or non-alcohol drinking, this global community has a space for you.
2. Île de la Cité
With countless places to see in Paris, my first stop, especially after a long plane ride, is a stroll around the indescribably beautiful Île de la Cité. I love Notre-Dame de Paris, the small, winding streets, the views of Paris. Looking forward to taking our daughter back to Berthillon for ice cream.

3. Bonjour, Au Revoir, Merci
It has been a long time (30 years this year) since I spent any real time in France. Since 1987, I have returned only three times.
